Lymphatic: supports and stimulates the lymphatic system
Lymphatic/Lymphagogues are lymphatic system decongestants as they have the ability to move and drain congested lymph from areas of inflammation and replace it with fresh lymph, which is rich in oxygen and nutrients necessary for tissue repair. Lymphatic/Lymphagogues are used when lymph nodes swell and lymphatic drainage becomes sluggish, which impairs immune system surveillance and the removal of waste products (metabolic by-products) from tissues.
Because they also remove wastes from blood circulation, they are also known as “blood purifiers.” These herbs play a vital role in fighting off infections and relieving inflammation, swollen glands, and edema (buildup of interstitial fluid). They are often used to remove anything that is “stuck,” like chronic, benign nodules, masses, buildup of scar tissues, fibroids, etc. They support the health of the body as a whole as they stimulate the production of B and T lymphocytes, increase capillary perfusion, decrease tissue inflammation, and enhance the elimination of metabolic wastes through the kidneys due to their diuretic and circulatory-stimulating properties.
