Emollient: softens, soothes, and protects the skin
Emollients are topically applied to the skin and work as external Demulcents by moistening, soothing, and protecting irritated or inflamed nerve endings on mucous membranes or the skin. They work by cooling hot or burnt skin, accelerating the healing process.
Examples:
Aloe vera (aloe gel, topically)
Plantago major/minor (plantain, topically)
Stellaria media (chickweed, topically)
